Discover the ‘Strengthen Your Health with Climate Change’ Campaign: Empowering Wellness in a Changing World

KUWAIT CITY, July 10: The Ministry of Health (MoH) has launched a summer campaign called “Strengthen Your Health with Climate Change.” This initiative aims to inform the public about how climate change affects health and promote the importance of protecting the environment. It kicks off under the guidance of Health Minister Dr. Ahmad Al-Awadhi and runs in partnership with The Promenade Mall.

Dr. Munther Al-Hasawi, Assistant Undersecretary for Public Health, stressed that climate change is a pressing issue, with rising temperatures impacting well-being. To tackle this, a national committee is being formed. This team includes representatives from various agencies, ensuring a coordinated response to adapt health policies to climate challenges. Their work also contributes to Kuwait’s national health adaptation plan alongside the Environment Public Authority.

Dr. Abeer Al-Bahou, the Director of the Health Promotion Department, shared details on the campaign’s objectives. It focuses on raising awareness about illnesses linked to high heat, pollution, and other environmental issues. Events will include workshops, lectures, and interactive activities aimed at promoting healthy choices. Dr. Al-Bahou emphasized the need for resilient health systems to address climate change’s impacts while protecting both people and nature.

The campaign highlights various health risks tied to climate variations, such as rising infectious diseases, changes in rainfall, and the effects of higher sea levels on coastal areas. The Ministry is committed to teaching the public how to stay safe from extreme heat and air pollution, underlining the importance of preventive measures against heat-related illnesses.

Adnan Al-Othman from the Abdullah Al-Othman Endowment, which supports this campaign, emphasized the crucial role of education in combating climate change. He pointed out that raising awareness, particularly among young people and families, is key to fostering sustainable habits that protect health over the long term. Community engagement is essential for effective climate action, he added.

This campaign shows Kuwait’s dedication to protecting public health in the face of environmental challenges. By bringing together government efforts, private sector partnerships, and community involvement, Kuwait aims to address the evolving threats presented by climate change.
