In fact, 17 out of 18 reviewers gave the public restrooms there a rating of four stars or higher, achieving an impressive 94% score. Following North Dakota are New Mexico and Alaska. On the flip side, West Virginia received the lowest score, with barely a one out of ten for cleanliness.
The study also evaluated how accessible these restrooms are for people with disabilities and how easy they are to find online. While North Dakota excels in cleanliness, it struggles with discoverability. Yet, it still stands out for its high number of accessible restrooms.
Recent reports indicate that public restroom cleanliness is becoming a growing concern among travelers. According to a survey by the American Restroom Association, 70% of Americans say they have avoided places due to the lack of clean restrooms. This shows the importance of well-maintained facilities for both locals and tourists.
