It’s not long since iOS 26 hit the shelves, but attention is already shifting to iOS 27. Apple is set to unveil the new version at their WWDC event in June 2026, with a public release expected by September.
Though many details are still under wraps, here’s what’s being speculated about iOS 27.
Firstly, this update is being dubbed a “Snow Leopard” release. This term comes from a previous macOS version that focused solely on fixing bugs and improving performance rather than introducing flashy new features. Apple engineers are actively looking into iOS 26 to eliminate any software bloat or bugs, aiming for a smoother user experience.
One of the biggest changes on the horizon is the anticipated iPhone Fold. Slated for release in 2026, this foldable device is expected to have a 5.4-inch display when closed and 7.7 inches when fully opened. This presents a shift back to smaller displays while also introducing a larger one. To accommodate these changes, iOS 27 will likely feature new interfaces designed for varying screen sizes, possibly including multitasking views similar to those found on iPads.
The design of the iOS interface, titled Liquid Glass, will undergo refinements based on user feedback. Earlier updates, 26.1 and 26.2, initiated some of these changes, but iOS 27 will allow for broader adjustments.
In terms of voice recognition, we can expect enhancements to Siri. A smarter Siri was already hinted at for the iOS 26.4 update, and iOS 27 seems poised to expand these capabilities further. This may include a feature called “World Knowledge,” which could provide users with more context in search queries.
There’s also buzz around a potential redesign for Siri. A more animated version, reminiscent of a digital assistant, could be in the works, inspired by Apple’s tabletop robot project.
On the health front, Apple may introduce a paid Health+ service within iOS 27. This service could feature personalized health metrics and nutrition guidance, tapping into the growing interest in wellness technology.
Additionally, Apple is exploring new satellite features. Rumors suggest capabilities like satellite-powered Apple Maps and messaging that may arrive with iOS 27. While some functions could require new hardware, features such as satellite navigation seem feasible with existing technology.
With the WWDC preview just months away, anticipation is building for what iOS 27 has in store. For now, Apple fans and users are eagerly awaiting these innovations, hopeful for a blend of improved performance and exciting new functionalities.
