This year, the best-selling PlayStation games spotlighted sports. The “Call of Duty” series didn’t shine as bright, especially with “Black Ops 7,” which struggled compared to its predecessor.
In America and Canada, “NBA 2K26” took the top spot, while “EA Sports FC 26” led in Europe. Meanwhile, “Black Ops 7” fell to seventh place in both regions. In contrast, “Battlefield 6” performed well, ranking second in North America and fifth in Europe. According to Circana, by the end of November 2025, “Battlefield 6” emerged as the year’s best-selling game, although this only covers PlayStation Store downloads.
The lists also featured some familiar favorites. “Minecraft” and “Helldivers 2” made a strong showing alongside newcomers like “Arc Raiders” and “Ghost of Yotei.” “Assassin’s Creed Shadows” and “Clair Obscur: Expedition 33” also made their marks in North America.
For PlayStation 4, “Red Dead Redemption 2” dominated, claiming the top spot in both regions. This 2018 open-world game from Rockstar has shown impressive staying power, much like “Grand Theft Auto V,” which also ranked well on both PS5 and PS4.
In the realm of PSVR 2 games, “Beat Saber” repeated its 2024 success, leading in both America and Europe. “Fortnite” continued its winning streak for free-to-play games.
This trend highlights how sports games have captured player interest, even as action titles struggle. It’s a reminder of how gaming preferences evolve. For more insight on game sales, check out NPD Group’s latest reports.
