The University of Scranton has earned recognition in the 2025 “Best Online Graduate Programs” ranking by U.S. News & World Report. Its online master’s programs in business (not including the MBA) came in at No. 51, while the online MBA program ranked No. 128 in the country.
Scranton’s strong performance was highlighted in specific categories too. For student excellence, which considers acceptance rates and students’ work experience and GPAs, Scranton ranked No. 28. It also secured No. 33 for student engagement, a category that took into account graduation rates, class sizes, and retention rates, among other factors. The MBA program achieved a rank of No. 105 for student excellence.
This marks the 14th year in a row that Scranton’s online programs have been recognized as among the best in the nation. The ranking criteria from U.S. News has evolved over time, making each year’s results unique.
For the latest ranking, released on January 21, 2025, U.S. News assessed information provided by schools. The evaluation included several factors: student engagement (30%), peer reputation (25%), faculty credentials and training (15%), student excellence (15%), and student services and technology (15%).
Scranton offers a range of online MBA degrees in fields like accounting, business analytics, finance, healthcare management, and more. There are also master’s degrees available in areas such as applied behavior analysis, cybersecurity, and health administration, along with various graduate certificates.
In addition to its online accolades, Scranton has consistently ranked among the top 10 “Best Regional Universities in the North” for 31 consecutive years. In the 2025 guidebook, it was rated No. 6 among regional universities in the North and also earned the No. 6 spot for “Best Undergraduate Teaching,” reflecting its dedication to student education.
