Another game in the spotlight is Nintendo Switch 2 Welcome Tour, launched alongside the console. Critics deemed it a glorified tutorial that felt more like a tech demo behind a paywall. With a low score of 54, it’s right next to Drag x Drive on Metacritic’s worst-reviewed list. The only title scoring lower is Bandai Namco’s Tamagotchi Plaza.

So, what does this mean? For now, it suggests that the Switch 2 may have one of the weakest launch line-ups seen from Nintendo in years, despite being a solid console. Interestingly, both poorly received games are new, standalone titles that lean heavily on the console’s gimmicky features. Historically, Nintendo has struggled with gimmicky features, as seen with the Wii U and Virtual Boy. However, this generation, they opted for a more straightforward approach—better, faster hardware without the unnecessary frills.
