The University is making important changes to its compliance training programs to ensure a safe and respectful environment for everyone on campus.
Title IX Essentials for Faculty and Staff
This academic year, all faculty, staff, and new students will need to complete a new Title IX training module called “Title IX Essentials” through Blackboard eCampus. This training will be assigned when someone starts, changes positions, or at the beginning of the fall semester. Current employees must complete it every year between August 1 and September 30.
This updated training aligns with the latest federal guidelines and clarifies what employees must do regarding reporting and preventing misconduct. If someone doesn’t complete the training, they might lose access to specific roles or activities on campus.
Title IX Essentials for Students
First-time freshmen and transfer students are also required to finish “Title IX Essentials for Students” upon enrollment via Blackboard eCampus. If students miss the deadline for this training, a hold will be placed on their registration, preventing them from signing up for classes until they complete it.
Youth Protection Training
Additionally, the University is updating training for anyone working with youth in university-sponsored programs. The new “WVU Youth Protection” training focuses on preventing and reporting child abuse while improving overall youth safety in these programs. It’s mandatory to complete this training upon hiring or before joining youth programs, with renewals required every year by December 31. Failure to meet this requirement will bar participation in youth activities.
