Discover the Vibrant Essence of India: Celebrate Culture, Cuisine, and Heritage at Bharat Mela – Kuwait Times

The Embassy of India in Kuwait, partnering with the Touristic Enterprise Company (TEC), hosted Bharat Mela on February 13, 2026. This lively festival celebrated India’s rich culture and attracted over 250,000 attendees, including locals and expatriates.

Held on the stunning beachfront of Green Island, the festival kicked off with the rhythmic sounds of Kerala’s traditional ‘Panchavadyam’ and was launched by Indian Ambassador Paramita Tripathi. She emphasized how cultural events foster connections between India and Kuwait, highlighting the Indian community’s role in strengthening these ties.

Bharat Mela transformed the venue into a vibrant display of Indian culture. Visitors indulged in a delicious variety of regional Indian dishes, from spicy northern cuisine to sweet festive treats.

The event featured an impressive lineup of 57 performances showcasing India’s artistic diversity. More than 700 artists performed classical dances, folk rhythms, and even traditional yoga. The BurhaniBand from the Dawoodi Bohra community and energetic Punjabi dhol performances brought the crowd to life.

Cultural exhibits displayed exquisite textiles and handicrafts, alongside interactive experiences like henna art and traditional attire presentations. Families enjoyed over 30 stalls featuring games and food, and there was even a dedicated play area for children.

This event wasn’t just about performances; it bridged cultures and offered a glimpse into India’s spirit of unity. A recent survey showed that 87% of attendees felt more connected to Indian culture after participating in Bharat Mela. The festival highlighted the importance of shared experiences in enriching community bonds.

Bharat Mela was more than just an event; it was an invitation to explore and celebrate diversity. The Embassy of India expressed gratitude to everyone who contributed to making Bharat Mela a memorable celebration of Indian heritage.
