Discover UChicago Medicine Ingalls Memorial’s New Women’s Health Clinic: Enhancing Specialty Care Access in Chicago’s Southland

UChicago Medicine Ingalls Memorial Hospital is making strides in women’s health, especially as many hospitals are closing their labor units. In December 2025, they opened a new women’s health clinic in Harvey, focusing on supporting women with complex healthcare needs. This innovative approach combines community and academic resources, ensuring more accessible OB/GYN services for local residents.

The new clinic offers a wide range of services. Women can receive cervical cancer screenings, contraceptive care, and treatment for menopause. There’s also advanced care for high-risk pregnancies, minimally invasive surgeries for conditions like fibroids and endometriosis, and soon, treatment for gynecologic cancers.

Dr. Andrea Loberg, the Section Chief of OB-GYN at UChicago Medicine Ingalls, emphasizes the importance of accessibility. “Many patients have had to travel far for specialized services. This clinic bridges that gap,” she said.

In line with their Community Health Needs Assessment, the clinic aims to improve access to both general and specialized women’s health services. The hospital is also strengthening partnerships with local clinics, ensuring that patients can receive comprehensive care throughout their pregnancy journey.

“Continuity is key,” says Dr. Loberg. “Patients want a seamless experience from prenatal care to delivery and beyond.”

UChicago Medicine Ingalls has a history of prioritizing maternal health, with programs like the Healthy Baby Network. This initiative connects expectant parents with vital resources, education, and care coordination. Shanice Williams, the OB Program Manager, notes, “The earlier patients engage in care, the better the outcomes. It’s crucial, especially as options for maternity care diminish in many areas.”

Michael Antoniades, President of UChicago Medicine Ingalls Memorial, adds that investments in their Family Birth Center and community partnerships are essential steps towards providing quality care and improving specialized OB/GYN services in the Southland.

The new women’s clinic is situated at 71 W. 156th Street in Harvey, with appointments available at (888) 824-0200. This effort showcases a dedicated commitment to better health outcomes for women in the community.
