This season, Ski Vermont’s Specialty Food Day Tour is back and bigger than ever, featuring 17 delicious stops across the state. From January 23 to March 22, skiers can dive into Vermont’s rich food scene while enjoying the slopes.
Bryan Rivard, the director of communication at Ski Vermont, shared that this popular tour has been around since about 2011. Last year, there were 14 stops, but this year, they’ve added even more. The tour kicked off at Jay Peak and includes new locations in Stowe, Middlebury Snowbowl, and Bolton Valley.
“The tour connects skiing with local food and Vermont’s beautiful landscapes,” said Molly Mahar, President of Ski Vermont. “It’s a chance for visitors to meet local food makers while skiing in our stunning winter environment.”
Attending Specialty Food Days is free, making it accessible for everyone. Visitors can enjoy a rotating selection of local delights, like cheese, maple syrup, snacks, and beverages from vendors such as Cabot Cheese and Cold Hollow Hard Cider. A fun new drink, the “One Last Rum” cocktail, has also been introduced in collaboration with St. Johnsbury Distillery.
The tour includes a variety of local stops on specific dates: February 6 at Killington Resort, February 7 at Pico Mountain, February 28 at Magic Mountain, March 1 at Stratton Mountain Resort, March 8 at Okemo Mountain Resort, and March 14 at Mount Snow.
Geoff Hatheway, President of Magic Mountain, highlighted the unique atmosphere, saying it’s a great way to showcase local Vermont products. “Nothing beats those one-on-one interactions with our guests,” he added.
Samara Sausville, a spokesperson for Mount Snow, described the event as a “farmers-market-style experience right at the base of the mountain.” She noted that visitors can find everything from snacks to crafts, ensuring there’s something for everyone. The current vendor lineup at Mount Snow includes BirdieBlue, Vermont Hard Seltzer Company, and Mad River Distillers, among others.

Interestingly, a recent survey showed that over 70% of people prefer trying local foods when they travel. This trend supports the idea that local food events can enhance the travel experience, making events like Ski Vermont’s Specialty Food Day even more appealing.
