Sup Wich U is the newest addition to The Commons Food Hall & Bar, offering delicious sandwiches, unique soups, and charcuterie boards. The aim is simple: to bring people together over good food.
Geoff Kuhnhausen, one of the owners, says they roast their turkey in-house for their standout sandwich, the Big Dill Turkey. He shares, “It’s a fantastic way to start our journey.” Along with his fiancée Bree’aunna Turman and his brother Ben, they’re excited to create a welcoming space in their community.
Located at 56 Seventh St., Sup Wich U stands out because it blends comfort food with a mission of connection. Their menu features handcrafted soups like loaded potato bacon and tomato basil, which change regularly, providing fresh options every visit. Ben, the soup expert, emphasizes variety: “We want to keep things interesting.”
Bree’aunna takes charge of the business side, leveraging her marketing skills. She’s passionate about offering not just great food, but also a place where the community can gather. Their menu reflects this vision, creating food that invites patrons to slow down and connect.
“At Sup Wich U, we are about more than just food. We believe in building community,” Bree’aunna says. Their “What’s Up Wich U Board” will encourage customers to share joys and challenges through sticky notes, fostering open dialogue.
Food has always been a family affair for the Kuhnhausens. Their parents instilled a love of cooking in them, and that passion is evident in every dish they serve. They hope to extend their reach through catering, especially to schools, with their Big Sandwich Board Program, which offers a variety of sandwiches served with soup for gatherings.
Research shows that food can create connections and even boost mental health. According to a recent study, sharing meals with family and friends can lower anxiety and improve overall well-being. It’s clear that Sup Wich U aims to harness this potential by cultivating a supportive atmosphere.
Open daily from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m., Sup Wich U is positioned among other great spots at The Commons, like Clyde’s Pies and Poke the Bear. Two brothers finally took the leap to chase their entrepreneurial dreams, and it seems to be paying off. The excitement and dedication they bring to their food and community are palpable.
“It’s a blessing to work with my brother, who is my best friend,” Ben says. Their commitment to quality and community spirit sets Sup Wich U apart as a place to not just eat, but truly connect.
And as it turns out, food tastes better when you share it with others.
