New Yorkers spent about $179 million on OnlyFans in 2024, as a recent study revealed. While that’s a significant amount, it pales in comparison to West Virginia, where residents topped the charts with an annual per-capita spending of $116,313 on the platform. This information comes from a report by OnlyFinder, which is the first to break down spending on OnlyFans at the state level.
In contrast, New Yorkers ranked 35th in the country, contributing around $88,646 annually per 10,000 residents. Following closely behind West Virginia in overall spending were Nevada, Colorado, Illinois, and Iowa. On the flip side, Mississippi had the lowest interest, with only $54,728 spent annually.
Interestingly, 83% of OnlyFans users in New York are men, accounting for approximately $148.7 million of the total spending. Women make up 17% of users, contributing about $30.4 million. The study also showed that nearly half of the subscribers in New York are married, and 36% fall within the 25-34 age range.
The report highlighted which content creators are most popular among New Yorkers. Sophie Rain emerged as the most searched star, racking up over 246,000 monthly searches. Her cousin, Camilla Araujo, followed with more than 110,000 searches. Rain noted that her subscribers often seek connection, stating, “Many just want someone to talk to, someone who remembers their name, their story.” Araujo echoed this sentiment, emphasizing that OnlyFans is about companionship, especially in a bustling city like New York, which can sometimes feel lonely.
Interestingly, even within New York, Buffalo outspent New York City on a per-capita basis. This local variation highlights the diverse interests and spending habits among different regions.
With these insights, it’s clear that platforms like OnlyFans serve more than just an entertainment purpose; they provide a sense of connection for many. In today’s fast-paced world, these digital spaces can offer companionship and a break from isolation.
