“It has been an incredible journey,” said Shukla. “But now, we’re wrapping up. Our adventure in human space flight is just beginning, and I know it won’t be easy.” He quoted a Sanskrit saying, reassuring us, “If we set our sights high, even the stars are within reach.”
Reflecting on history, Shukla mentioned the first Indian in space, Rakesh Sharma, who ventured into orbit 41 years ago and shared his view of India from above. “We’re all eager to see how our nation looks today from that high perspective. Today’s India feels ambitious, fearless, and confident. It is truly a proud moment for us.”
Shukla made it clear that this progress wouldn’t have happened without the dedication of many. “I’m incredibly grateful to my colleagues at the space station. Collaborating with such talented professionals from both India and abroad has been rewarding.”
He emphasized the mission’s blend of scientific advancements and community engagement. Viewing Earth from space ignites a sense of wonder, making one appreciate our planet’s beauty and fragility. He also thanked organizations like ISRO, NASA, Axiom Space, and SpaceX for their crucial roles.
Notably, missions like this are more than just exploration; they inspire hope and unity. Shukla concluded, “I carry many memories and lessons from this experience. The most meaningful takeaway is how much we can achieve when we work together.”
A recent NASA study highlighted that human spaceflight missions are vital for sparking interest in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) fields among young people. Engaging students in such global endeavors can lead to breakthroughs not just in space science but also here on Earth. In fact, a 2022 survey showed that 70% of students express increased interest in these fields after witnessing space missions.
