While most teens might binge-watch on Netflix, 17-year-old Declan has a different favorite. He loves holding DVDs. Growing up with his gran’s collection, he has started building his own library. “It’s the cases that get me,” he shares. “There’s something special about actually owning a movie.”
Streaming is convenient, but Declan appreciates having a tangible copy. “If streaming disappeared, I’d still have my favorites,” he adds. He believes that owning DVDs gives a sense of nostalgia and coolness, even if fewer people use them today.

Unlike most who use smartphones, 21-year-old Aoibheann adores her Pentax film camera. “The quality and style are unmatched,” she says, revealing that the anticipation of waiting for developed photos adds to the excitement. This love for physical cameras often roots back to childhood memories of parents using them.
She sees this trend as a break from instant gratification, a touch of timelessness that’ll never fade away.
### The PlayStation Portable Experience
Kyle, 21, picked up a PlayStation Portable (PSP) to revisit his childhood. This handheld console, discontinued in 2014, offers a simple gaming experience without updates or downloads. It’s a comforting blast from the past for Kyle, who feels that while modern consoles require maintenance, the PSP lets you jump straight into the fun.
He currently enjoys racing games and admits that this nostalgic simplicity makes the PSP more addictive than the latest releases on his PS5. “For me, this is a real connection to my childhood,” he reflects.
