When Hims & Hers first contacted me for a role on their Board of Directors, I was unsure. The commercials were eye-catching, but I didn’t fully grasp the company’s mission. Still, I was curious about tackling healthcare issues from a fresh perspective.

To my surprise, my initial doubts were unfounded. I found CEO Andrew Dudum and the entire team to be sincere and dedicated to transforming healthcare. After a year on the Board, I’ve learned that Hims & Hers is shaking up the industry with a strong commitment to quality and safety.

The company isn’t recklessly charging ahead; instead, it seeks to thoughtfully challenge outdated methods. We know change won’t be easy, but the team’s passion is clear.

As a healthcare consumer myself, I understand how frustrating navigating the system can be. Surveys reveal that five out of six Americans feel they lack control over their health decisions. This fragmented system is difficult to access, but exciting technological advancements in fields like AI and home diagnostics offer new possibilities for treatment and care.

Having worked in various roles within the regulatory landscape, I appreciate the importance of regulations in protecting patient safety. However, I’ve seen how these systems can sometimes hinder progress. This perspective allows me to ask important questions about what truly benefits patients.

The real question is how we can use rapid technological innovation to enhance healthcare for everyone. Imagine a future where understanding your health feels as simple as checking the weather. Early detection could happen at home, making quality care accessible to everyone, no matter where they live. This vision is attainable if we focus on expanding telehealth and empowering people to take an active role in their health.

While these transformations will be tough and may face skepticism, we have a chance to rethink and reshape healthcare together. This means involving patients, telehealth platforms, providers, advocacy groups, and even regulators in the process.
