Discover Why the Reimagined Bourbon Trail Won Best of Business at the World Beverage Innovation Awards

The Kentucky Distillers’ Association recently celebrated a big win at the 2024 World Beverage Innovation Awards. Their Kentucky Bourbon Trail® tourism program earned the title of Best of Business: Marketing Campaign. This recognition comes after they launched a fresh brand look last year to mark the 25th anniversary of the Bourbon Trail.

Now, the Kentucky Bourbon Trail® is more than just a trip; it’s a must-visit experience for people around the globe. In 2024, the KDA introduced a new design that blends a modern vibe with a deep respect for the craftsmanship and rich history of Kentucky Bourbon. This update keeps things familiar for loyal fans while adding a modern, luxe touch that appeals to new visitors.

Colleen Thomas, Vice President of Operations for KDA, expressed her pride in this achievement. “We are honored to be nationally recognized for the new vision of the Kentucky Bourbon Trail®. By creating a modern and approachable brand, we aim to make it even easier for everyone to discover Kentucky Bourbon,” she said.

The revamped Bourbon Trail® reflects the variety of experiences offered across its 60 destinations. It aims to connect with the next generation of bourbon lovers. Plus, they’ve launched a digital experience that lets visitors customize their own Bourbon Trail adventure. This tool means guests can craft a journey that fits their own tastes and interests from the moment they interact with the brand. You can explore more at kybourbontrail.com.

The updated branding includes a new color scheme that celebrates the art of bourbon-making with a Copper hue, inspired by the state’s natural beauty with Kentucky Bluegrass accents. The Kentucky Bourbon Trail is now ready for a fresh chapter in its story, attracting a new generation while honoring its legacy.

Working with Nashville-based agency Lewis, the KDA has successfully brought the brand into the modern era. “It was a privilege to partner with KDA to refresh a brand that honors Kentucky Bourbon’s legacy,” said Katie Peninger, VP Account Service at Lewis. “We’re excited to see this campaign recognized globally as interest in the Kentucky Bourbon Trail® continues to grow.”
