Three hospitals from Intermountain Health have made it to the Top 50 heart hospitals in the United States for 2025, as found in a recent study.

The study, conducted by Premier Inc., highlighted Intermountain Medical Center in Murray, Intermountain McKay-Dee Hospital in Ogden, and Intermountain St. George Regional Hospital. These hospitals excelled in quality of care, patient outcomes, and overall experience.

If all U.S. hospitals performed like those in the Top 50, we could see 14,000 fewer deaths, 28,600 patients facing fewer complications from bypass surgeries and angioplasties, and savings of over $1.5 billion in inpatient costs.

Dr. Blake Gardner, senior medical director at Intermountain Health, emphasized that having three ranked hospitals shows their commitment to providing top-notch cardiovascular care to their communities.

The rankings are split into three categories: Intermountain McKay-Dee Hospital topped the list for teaching hospitals without a cardiovascular residency program, Intermountain Medical Center secured third place for those with the program, and Intermountain St. George Regional Hospital ranked fourth among community hospitals.

Dr. Gardner noted, “Having these top-rated programs means patients don’t have to travel far for excellent heart care.”

Premier has been ranking cardiovascular hospitals since 1998, using publicly available data to evaluate aspects like patient experience, mortality rates, complications, readmission rates, and costs.

Dr. Eric Lindley of Intermountain McKay-Dee Hospital expressed pride in his team’s efforts, saying, “Our caregivers are making significant strides in tackling health issues in our community.”

Intermountain Health is also engaged in groundbreaking heart research and clinical programs to enhance cardiac care. Dr. Stephen McKellar noted, “We’re committed to developing new treatments that help our patients lead healthier lives.”
