Discovering Exquisite Indian Cuisine at the New India Pavilion: A Culinary Experience You Can’t Miss!

The Indian Pavilion at the 2025 Osaka Kansai Expo had a delayed opening, starting on May 1, 2025, about two weeks after the Expo began. Once it opened, visitors could savor authentic Indian cuisine, showcasing the country’s rich culinary heritage.

The pavilion, located in a prominent area marked ‘C17’ on the expo map, featured a blend of traditional and modern elements. A stunning monument of converging hands stood beside the building, symbolizing unity and collaboration.

Inside, guests could enjoy an array of experiences. Displays featured Indian handicrafts and the latest technology, including high-speed trains and artificial satellites. The atmosphere was vibrant, with the scent of spices wafting through the air, inviting guests to explore.

Visitors didn’t need reservations to enter the pavilion. This was fortunate for me, as I walked in without any wait. The exhibitions highlighted traditional arts alongside India’s technological advancements, making it a celebration of both culture and innovation.

One highlight was the food corner, where you could grab takeaway Indian dishes. The menu included familiar favorites like Tandoori Chicken and unique offerings such as Chole and Rice. The aromas were tempting, and I decided to try Chicken Biryani and Chole and Rice, both generously portioned.

The Chicken Biryani was a delightful mix of fluffy rice infused with spices and tender chicken. The Chole, made of chickpeas in a spicy gravy, was rich and hearty—definitely not for the faint of heart! It delighted even the spice lovers in the crowd.

Interestingly, the only pavilion yet to open was the Nepal Pavilion, which faced delays due to financial issues. However, construction resumed on June 16, 2025, and it remained a topic of interest among visitors.
