A group of 33 members from the Christchurch-based climate change partnership recently toured Eco Sustainable Solutions, a leader in sustainable waste management. This expert-led visit took place at their expansive 32-acre Chapel Gate Eco Park in Parley.
During the tour, the BCP climate partners learned how Eco Sustainable Solutions turns food, green, and wood waste into valuable products. The company processes over 230,000 tonnes of organic waste each year, transforming it into soil improvers, landscaping materials, and renewable energy.
Notable visitors included representatives from BCP Council’s sustainable travel and planning teams, Bournemouth University, Brittany Ferries, and the South West Net Zero Hub. Their collective aim? To share insights and best practices for tackling environmental challenges.
Martin Gardner, a sustainability officer from BCP Council, emphasized the company’s commitment to sustainability. He remarked, “Eco Sustainable Solutions follows outstanding environmental practices that embody circular economy principles. Their work significantly reduces the environmental impact of waste in our area.”
Mike Eborne, the development director at Eco Sustainable Solutions, noted that successful waste management is crucial for a sustainable future. “Our partnership with the BCP Council is vital. It helps us collectively minimize waste and promote greener practices,” he said.
This type of collaboration is increasingly important. Recent statistics show that over 50% of waste in urban areas still goes to landfills, highlighting the urgent need for better waste management solutions. Social media trends also reflect a growing interest in sustainability. Hashtags like #GoGreen and #CircularEconomy continue to trend as more people advocate for eco-friendly practices.
