This agreement was made on Friday during the 18th International Tourism and Related Industries Exhibition in Tehran. Hamid Zohrabi from the DOE and Majid Fakhri from the National Geographical Organization put pen to paper on this important partnership.

The goal of the MOU is to enhance teamwork in applying environmental laws and policies. It also aims to improve research, education, and joint efforts in environmental protection.

As for the broader environmental agenda, newly elected President Masoud Pezeshkian’s committee is all about sustainability. They’ve created a plan focusing on six key areas:

  • Transitioning to a green economy
  • Improving environmental balance in areas like energy and water
  • Protecting biological resources and biodiversity
  • Ensuring good environmental governance
  • Listening to public concerns about the environment
  • Boosting international cooperation on environmental issues

This program takes into account national policies and Article 50 of the Constitution, emphasizing that all development must consider environmental impacts. Pezeshkian insists that we can’t move forward with any plans that neglect our ecological responsibilities.

The region has seen more dust storms lately. In response, Pezeshkian’s administration is committed to working both regionally and globally to address these challenges and issues involving water resources.

They plan to share experiences and knowledge about environmental management, increase collaboration, and negotiate to secure resources while protecting national interests.

Additionally, protecting biodiversity is a big priority. The administration aims to draft a legal agreement that would support endangered species and manage important ecosystems like national parks. Efforts will be made to prevent the extinction of iconic animals such as cheetahs and bustards.
