Binghamton’s softball team had an impressive day on Saturday. They crushed Bryant 9-0 in just five innings, rounding off a perfect weekend sweep. Pitcher Brianna Roberts led the charge, throwing a two-hit shutout, while Emma Lawson shined at the plate with four RBIs.

Roberts, now 11-2, is on fire this season, topping the America East in wins and ERA at 2.40. This weekend was particularly remarkable for her, as she struck out 17 batters over 11 innings. Lawson also showcased her talent, hitting a home run and finishing the weekend with a .556 batting average against Bryant, bringing her season batting average to .386, the best in the conference.
During the game, the Bearcats hit three home runs. Lawson’s two-run shot came in the fourth inning, followed by a two-run homer from catcher Elisa Allen, who now leads the conference with 10 home runs. Bella Farina also contributed with a three-run blast, continuing her nine-game hitting streak.
The defense was just as strong. A remarkable play at the plate in the fourth inning prevented a Bulldogs run. Maddy Dodig’s throw from second base helped Allen tag out Faith Valenzuela, protecting Roberts’ shutout.
Head coach Jess Bump praised the team’s performance, noting how their offensive confidence is soaring. The Bearcats are all set for a doubleheader against Le Moyne next Wednesday at 3 p.m.
Statistically, Binghamton has hit 39 home runs this season and managed to get at least one in each of their last ten games, showcasing their powerful lineup.
As of late October, the Bearcats’ impressive batting average against Bryant was .377, combined with a solid team ERA of 2.72. With this level of play, Binghamton looks poised to continue their winning streak as they move through the season.
