Don’t Miss OSC’s Exciting Science on Tap at Loch Haven Park This Weekend!

At the Orlando Science Center, connecting curious minds with knowledge is a top priority. Jeff Stanford, the vice president of marketing, emphasizes this mission, particularly when it comes to unique topics like beer.

One exciting event showcasing this theme is the Science on Tap fundraiser. Now in its fourth year, it’s clear that many folks are eager to learn more about beer. On January 25, the festival will take place at Loch Haven Park, featuring over 20 local craft brewers ready to share their expertise.

Running from 1 to 4 p.m. (with early noon entry for VIPs), attendees can enjoy tastings from popular local breweries like Ten 10, Ivanhoe Park, and Three Odd Guys Brewing, along with an exciting new addition: mead.

Stanford admits he didn’t know much about mead until he met Ginger and Joe Leigh from Zymarium Meadery. They’ll be presenting at the festival, aiming to educate everyone about this honey-based drink. “I thought mead was just something from ‘Lord of the Rings,’” he laughs. “But it’s a beautiful drink! The Leighs are passionate and will share their knowledge with guests.”

The festival promises an enjoyable experience for everyone, from craft beer aficionados to families. Kids aged 15 and under get in free with a paying adult, and there will be plenty of fun, including interactive science displays and lawn games.

General admission is $50, while OSC members pay $40. VIP tickets for $75 allow for early entry, two full pours, and discounts on food trucks. For designated drivers, tickets are just $30. Proceeds support the Orlando Science Center, reinforcing its mission to foster curiosity and learning.

Stanford welcomes all enthusiasts, noting that the festival is a space for both sharing knowledge and asking questions. “People often get really into it and start chatting about all things beer. It’s a comfortable setting,” he adds.

In essence, Science on Tap captures the spirit of the Orlando Science Center. It’s fun, family-friendly, and celebrates the topics that spark people’s interest.
