Don’t Miss the 25th Annual Pottery Sale: A Student-Led Celebration This Thursday!

LOCK HAVEN — On December 11, Professor Vance McCoy’s pottery students from Commonwealth University will host the 25th annual pottery sale. This event runs from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the Art Annex located at 515 Railroad St. in Lock Haven.

This year, the event features not only current students but also three alumni: Todd Tabb (2004) and Erin Dean Musselman (2014), both from Pennsylvania, and Jackie Zeisloft-Brehm (2008) from Maine. It’s a unique chance for students to learn from former pupils who have successfully built their own pottery businesses.

Professor McCoy explains, “This sale is more than just a market. It’s a learning experience. My students engage directly with the community, sharing their stories and business insights.” This hands-on approach helps students develop skills in entrepreneurship and pottery.

All proceeds from sales will benefit H.E.L.P. 4 Pets, a local organization that assists Clinton County residents with pet healthcare costs through interest-free emergency loans. They also support the Chessie Spay and Neuter Fund. This initiative adds a charitable layer to the event, connecting artistry with community support.

According to recent statistics from the American Pet Products Association, pet ownership has soared, with 70% of U.S. households owning a pet. This trend emphasizes the importance of accessible healthcare for pets, making organizations like H.E.L.P. even more vital.

Parking is available near the Art Annex, and cash or check is preferred for payments. Attendees can expect a diverse selection of handmade pottery, from mugs to decorative pieces, all crafted with care by the students and alumni.
