Don’t Miss the Aces Kick Off the MVC Baseball Tournament This Wednesday – Join the Excitement at University of Evansville Athletics!

Evansville, Ind. – The Missouri Valley Conference baseball tournament kicks off this Wednesday. The University of Evansville’s Purple Aces will face Southern Illinois in their first match at 11 a.m. central time. Fans can catch all the games live on ESPN+ or listen to them on 107.1 FM-WJPS and the Old National Bank/Purple Aces Sports Network.

Historically, Evansville has a mixed record in the MVC Tournament, with 36 wins and 46 losses. The Aces have claimed two titles, in 2006 and recently in 2024, and they’ve made it to the championship game five times. Since 2022, their performance has been strong, boasting a 10-4 tournament record, including back-to-back championship appearances in 2023 and 2024.

This year, the Aces had a strong showing in the conference selections. Five players made the All-Conference teams. Freshman catcher Spike Magill earned the title of Freshman of the Year, a distinction only reached by two other players in the last three years. He also made the All-MVC Second Team and the All-Defensive Team. Senior pitcher Max Hansmann was named to the All-MVC First Team, while sophomore shortstop Drew McConnell and junior pitcher Chris McCormack received Honorable Mention. Notably, junior outfielder Reid Haire also joined Magill on the All-Defensive Team.

The Aces ended their regular season with a bang, scoring an impressive 25 runs against Murray State in their last series. They had five innings where they scored three or more runs, with a standout moment being a 7-run inning on Friday. Ryan Seddon shone brightly, hitting .429 and driving in six RBIs.

Evansville’s recent performance and strong lineup have raised expectations as they head into the tournament. Fans are eager to see how their Aces will tackle this challenge and potentially add to their history.
