Wheeling, W. Va. – The Wheeling University Football team is on a winning streak as they face the University of Charleston this Saturday at 2 PM. Both teams are doing well in the Mountain East Conference (MEC), with the Cardinals at 3-2 overall and 2-0 in the conference. At home, they hope to improve on their 2-1 record.

Last week, the Cardinals had an exciting Homecoming Game against West Virginia Wesleyan. It was a nail-biter at first, with the score tied at 14 after the first quarter. After just six weeks of the regular season, the Cardinals find themselves among the top teams in the MEC. They’re half a game behind Frostburg State for the lead and tied with Charleston. The road ahead looks challenging, with top competitors for the next three weeks. The Cardinals are eager to build on last season’s fifth place finish.

Historically, this matchup sees the Cardinals trying to turn the tide against the Golden Eagles. They have yet to win in their four previous meetings. The last encounter ended in a 42-23 defeat for Wheeling, where former players had stellar performances on both sides.
