The University of Houston Swimming & Diving team is gearing up for an exciting weekend as they host the Big 12 East Showdown at the CRWC Natatorium. This two-day event will feature intense competition with teams like TCU, Iowa State, West Virginia, and Cincinnati.

In their last meet against the Kansas Jayhawks, the Cougars put on a strong show. They scored seven first-place finishes and achieved 26 podium spots, but fell short with a close final score of 153-147.
Sophomore Mariana Cote shone in the 1000-yard freestyle, clocking in at 10:62.02. In the 100-yard backstroke, junior Elizabeth Jimenez (54.98), sophomore Alexia Duncan (55.06), and Regina Torres (55.76) took the top three spots. Jimenez also clinched first in the 200-yard backstroke with a time of 1:59.37.
Additionally, junior Evelyn Entrekin finished first in the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 1:01.10, while seniors Liya Goupil and Noor El Gendy won the 100-yard freestyle (50.77) and 200-yard butterfly (1:59.37), respectively.
