This Week for the Minutewomen
The matchup is interesting—this will be the 11th time these teams have faced each other, and Massachusetts has a perfect 10-0 record against the Patriots. Last season, they dominated George Mason with a score of 20-8 in Fairfax, Virginia. Remarkably, the Minutewomen have won 54 consecutive A-10 regular season games, with their last loss dating back to April 22, 2018.
Last Game Recap
In their last outing, the Minutewomen claimed their tenth consecutive victory by beating UMass Lowell 18-7. They were strong from the start, dominating shots (48-18) and causing turnovers (10-3). They held the Riverhawks scoreless for over 17 minutes and built a commanding 13-5 lead. Delaney Rodriguez-Shaw shone brightly, scoring five goals, while Kassidy Morris notched four goals and two assists. Ava Connaughton also made her mark, matching her career-high with four goals. On defense, Catrina Tobin recorded six saves while picking up three ground balls.
Season Highlights
The Minutewomen came into 2025 celebrating their 15th straight Atlantic 10 title. Senior Jordan Dean kicked off the year as a Preseason First Team All-American, having set the NCAA Division I record for draw controls last season with an astounding 261. This achievement underscores the team’s strength in crucial moments. Kassidy Morris, another key player, earned a spot on the Preseason All-Conference team after scoring 63 goals last season.
This year, the Minutewomen brought back 23 players and added 12 newcomers, blending experience with fresh talent. This mix creates a dynamic environment for both players and fans.
Coaching Staff
Head Coach Jana Drummond, in her third season, has led the team to three consecutive A-10 Regular Season Championships. Her record stands at 41-11, showcasing her leadership skills effectively. Assistant Lia Laprise, a standout at UConn, is in her second year and brings her experience as the school’s all-time leader in points and assists. Joining her is Avergy Giorgio, who adds valuable insights after her time coaching at Trinity College and playing at Holy Cross. Kendra Harbinger, an alum returning as the Director of Player Development, brings a relatable perspective, having experienced success on the field herself.
