Rochester, Mich. – After a break of nearly three weeks, the Oakland women’s golf team is ready to hit the greens again. They are set to compete in the NKU Julie Invitational at Elks Run Golf Course in Batavia, Ohio. This marks their first return to the event since 2018, where they finished fifth out of 13 teams.
The NKU Julie Invitational, now in its sixth year, has become an important fixture for college golf teams in the region. This year, twelve teams will compete, including familiar faces like Northern Kentucky, Ashland, and Detroit Mercy. With most Horizon League programs participating, the tournament offers a sneak peek into the competitive landscape for the season.
In their last tournament, the “More Than Golf Invitational” in South Carolina, the Golden Grizzlies placed 11th. Junior Lily Bargamian stood out, tying for 27th place with a total score of 234 (+15). Other team members included Olivia Hemmila and Logan Bentley, who also made notable contributions.
The Elks Run Golf Course offers a challenging par-71 layout, which last year measured 6,053 yards. Oakland’s starters—Bargamian, Hemmila, Bentley, Paige Scott, and Grace Boczar—will compete together again. Freshman Channing Hagen will play individually.
