Don’t Miss This Weekend’s Enchanting Performance of ‘Into The Woods Jr.’ by Theatre Scrapbook!

This weekend, Theatre Scrapbook is excited to showcase its latest production, “Into The Woods Jr.” This marks the group’s 20th show since it started in 2013. This musical is a fresh take on beloved fairy tales by the Brothers Grimm.

In “Into The Woods Jr.,” we meet a baker and his wife who desperately want a child. Along their journey, they encounter characters like Cinderella, Little Red Riding Hood, and Jack who climbs the beanstalk. When a witch tells the couple that they can’t have kids because of a curse, they embark on a quest to break it, which leads them to discover more about themselves and their desires.

Recently, some of the talented student actors shared their thoughts about the show. Trystan Phillips, a ninth grader portraying Jack, loves how every character has a vital role. “My favorite part of this show is the amount of stage time that every role gets,” he shared. “Each part has a specific purpose in each song, and it is so fun to perform with this amazing cast!”

Soli Kalbach, who plays Cinderella, is excited about making new friends in the cast. “Being welcomed into this new group has been great,” she said. “I look forward to more theater opportunities thanks to this experience.”

Elsie Smith, a freshman from Westerly High School, portrays the Baker’s Wife. She enjoys the bonds she’s formed with her castmates. “Creating new memories with everyone has been my favorite part,” she mentioned.

Jude Rodricks, who plays the Baker’s Husband, echoed similar sentiments. “Spending time with everyone and getting to know new people are what I’ll remember the most. I’m really happy to be a part of this production,” he said.

Theatre Scrapbook is a local youth theater company dedicated to enriching the lives of young people through the arts. They provide free after-school programs and offer tuition-based camps in area schools. This commitment helps nurture the talents of young actors and fosters a love for theater in the community.
