KeAyla Dove, a talented graduate from the University of Houston, earned the title of Big 12 Conference women’s outdoor shot put champion recently. She achieved a remarkable throw of 18.14 meters, marking her best effort this season. This victory follows her success in the indoor championships earlier this year, completing a double win.

On the men’s side, senior Grant Levesque stood out by finishing second in the decathlon, scoring 7,848 points, the second-best in the program’s history. He achieved personal bests in several events, including the 110-meter hurdles, where he clocked in at 14.18 seconds.

The Cougars made their presence felt in the men’s high jump, scoring 17 points. Sophomore Antrea Mita secured second place with a height of 2.15 meters, while senior My’Kell Beck also reached this height, finishing third. Junior Turey Stoudemire jumped 2.11 meters, setting a new personal best.

In the men’s shot put, sophomore Cordell Nwokeji achieved a season-best mark of 18.81 meters, finishing sixth. Freshman Evina Panagiotou contributed by tying for eighth in the women’s pole vault with a height of 4.06 meters.

The competition continued with strong showings in the sprints. Senior Jamar Marshall Jr. qualified for the men’s 110-meter hurdles final with the fastest time of the day at 13.37 seconds, placing him second in the school’s all-time performance list. Several teammates joined him, showcasing Houston’s depth in this event.

Junior Kaycee McCoy and Ali Mack both qualified for the women’s 100-meter hurdles final, running times of 13.55 and 13.69 seconds, respectively. In the men’s 200 meters, senior Trey East III secured a spot in the finals with a personal best of 45.81 seconds.

H-Town Speed City made a notable impact in the men’s 100 meters, with three Cougars racing into the finals. Freshman Germain Smith-Mata clocked in at 10.38 seconds, just behind teammate John Adesola, who also qualified with the same time.

Current Standings

After the day’s events, BYU leads the men’s competition with 58.66 points, while Texas Tech follows with 46 points. The Cougars are currently in third place with 30 points. For the women, BYU also tops the standings with 49.5 points, holding off Baylor at 38.5. Houston sits in 12th place on the women’s side with a total of 10.33 points.
