Grey Sloan Memorial Hospital keeps changing. Just two weeks after Amelia took a break, “Grey’s Anatomy” brought back Jesse Williams as Dr. Jackson Avery. It’s his first appearance since Season 21.
Meredith and Jackson didn’t exactly welcome each other with open arms. They clashed over a report by Dr. Koracick about Alzheimer’s research. Meredith pointed out that Koracick only used male mice in his study, which isn’t a proper representation. But Jackson dismissed her concerns, reminding her that she has an empty lab and no published work. Ouch!
Things shifted when Jackson’s patient, a cancer survivor, needed two surgeries the same day. Meredith heard the patient’s urgency and agreed to do both, even when Jackson protested. Their bickering continued during the operation. Jackson tried to undermine Meredith’s point. But in the end, he apologized, admitting she was right. Jackson even offered her a ride back to Boston, which raised eyebrows. Why not just fly?
Meredith is now headed back to Boston, much to Richard’s non-surprise. He started reassigning her surgeries immediately, knowing she would eventually head back to her passion.
So, how long will Meredith stay away this time? Showrunner Meg Marinis mentioned that Meredith will split her time between Boston and Seattle. She hopes we’ll see more of Meredith in Seattle. “The more we get Ellen [Pompeo, who plays Meredith], the happier I am,” said Marinis.
Meanwhile, other drama unfolded. Lucas helped a patient named Katie find a clinical cancer trial and asked Bailey to stay on her care team. Also, Bailey learned that Ben is interested in plastics surgery, prompting him to consider three more years of residency.
Simone felt hurt when Jules didn’t want to move in with her and Kwan. But Jules explained it was due to her being a heavy sleeper and not wanting to ruin their friendship. In a lighthearted twist, Kwan pretended to have food poisoning to avoid surgery, allowing Kavita to take his place. It seems there’s a budding romance there!
As for Owen and Nora, there was some warmth amidst the bumps. Owen faced backlash for getting involved in a patient’s case without permission, but he apologized to Link who, in a rare moment, showed genuine concern for him.
Owen ran into Nora, who misread indigestion for chest pain. They ended up chatting, with Owen offering her dinner. Meanwhile, Teddy had to clarify with Cass that her need for closeness wasn’t about keeping things secret. Cass suggested they try a more open relationship, and Teddy agreed. Change is in the air everywhere on the show!
Fans, how do you feel about this week’s episode? Excited to see Jackson? Are you already missing Meredith? And should Owen and Nora see where things go? We’d love to hear your thoughts!
