Draymond Green is speaking out after receiving a technical foul during the Golden State Warriors’ playoff loss to the Minnesota Timberwolves. He feels there’s an “agenda” to portray him negatively, especially after he was called out for a foul in the second quarter.

In a postgame interview, Green expressed frustration, pointing to a perception that he is being depicted as an “angry Black man.” This statement highlights ongoing discussions about race and sports, particularly how athletes of color are often viewed through a biased lens.

The foul occurred when Green was attempting to draw a shooting foul. He inadvertently struck Timberwolves center Naz Reid with his elbow, leading to a technical foul after a review. Following the call, Green had an intense exchange with the referee and was eventually sent to the bench.

Adding to his frustration, footage emerged of a fan directing a racial slur at him while he was on a stationary bike during the game. This incident drew widespread condemnation, and the fan was promptly ejected from the arena.

Green is now on the brink of facing a one-game suspension for accumulating technical fouls. This was his fifth in just nine playoff games. According to NBA rules, players who collect seven technicals during the postseason receive an automatic one-game suspension. For every two additional technicals after that, they face further suspensions.

The Warriors also struggled that night without their star player, Stephen Curry, who was sidelined due to a hamstring injury. They faced their most significant postseason loss, but they’ll have a chance to rebound in Game 3, where the series is currently tied 1-1.
