A woman, Alyssa Wilson, recently made headlines after leading police on a dramatic chase from Simi Valley all the way to the U.S.-Mexico border. Wilson, 29, turned herself in after the incident, which she reportedly initiated by stealing a minivan from a sober living home in Thousand Oaks.
Law enforcement first spotted the minivan and attempted a traffic stop. Wilson sped away, hitting speeds of up to 90 mph on the 118 Freeway. The California Highway Patrol (CHP) took over the pursuit as she moved through Los Angeles and into Orange County. Her mother had called the CHP, concerned that Wilson was having a mental health crisis.

The chase continued for over two hours, covering around 155 miles without major traffic delays. Authorities deployed spike strips to try and stop her, but Wilson skillfully swerved around them. Eventually, she crossed into Mexico just before 1:30 PM, prompting CHP to abandon the chase.
