As 2025 wraps up, we at Morgan State University reflect on an extraordinary year. It wasn’t just about awards; it was about real progress. Our university made strides across key areas like academics, research, and community impact.
This year, we celebrated a record enrollment of over 11,500 students. That’s five years of continuous growth! Our students achieved fantastic things, winning awards in competitions and earning prestigious honors. Over 1,600 graduates stepped onto the stage, ready to make a difference in their fields.
On the research front, we hit a significant milestone, surpassing $100 million in research funding for the first time. Partnerships with major organizations like NASA and the National Science Foundation fueled our progress. Our research addresses pressing issues, from health equity to climate change, showcasing how we connect academic inquiry to real-world challenges.
Financially, we made impressive gains. A landmark $63 million gift from MacKenzie Scott, along with our successful Giving Day, demonstrated trust in our vision. This funding lays the groundwork for continued excellence and meaningful impact.
In 2025, Morgan’s influence reached new heights. We led the first-ever HBCU pavilion at the Venice Architecture Biennale, expanding our voice on the global stage. Our statewide economic impact of $1.5 billion underscores our role as a vital resource for Maryland and beyond.
Leadership and accountability were key themes this year. We bolstered our leadership team, improved student housing, and enhanced support for military students. Our approach is data-driven, ensuring we make informed decisions that prioritize everyone in the Morgan community.
Looking forward to 2026, we are optimistic. The achievements of 2025 present new opportunities rather than a stopping point. Our goals include deepening our research impact and enhancing student success. It’s essential to keep the momentum going.
In short, 2025 was an affirmation of what’s possible when we align our efforts with our mission. Thanks to all our students, faculty, staff, alumni, and supporters for contributing to a successful year. Together, we are poised to reach even greater heights.
Our journey is just beginning, and the future is looking incredibly bright.
With pride,
David K. Wilson
