Exciting News for Duke Women’s Basketball: Emilee Skinner Makes U19 Team
Emilee Skinner, a rising freshman at Duke University, has been named to the 2025 USA Basketball Women’s U19 National Team. The announcement came from USA Basketball on Friday.
Skinner is part of a talented group of 12 athletes. Among her teammates are Sienna Betts, Addison Bjorn, and Jasmine Davidson. The selection committee included college sophomores and players from future high school classes, emphasizing the diversity and potential of the team.
The U.S. team will compete in Group A at the 2025 FIBA U19 Women’s World Cup. They’ll face tough opponents like Israel, Hungary, and Korea. The first game kicks off against Korea on July 12, followed by a match against Hungary the next day. The group stage wraps up with a game against Israel on July 15.
This isn’t Skinner’s first experience with USA Basketball. She won a gold medal with the U17 team last year, demonstrating her skills on an international level. During that championship, she scored 13 points in a victory over the World Select team.
Ranked No. 4 in the espnW 2025 class, Skinner had an outstanding senior year in high school. She averaged 26.3 points and led her team to an impressive 28-0 season, capturing the Class 4A title.
Basketball experts recognize the depth of talent in this U19 team. According to a recent survey by Basketball Canada, youth participation in basketball is increasing, especially among young women. This growth is vital for expanding opportunities in sports.
