DWTS Recap: Whitney Shines at the Top While [SPOILER] Bids Farewell!

Dancing With the Stars is heating up! In Week 8 of Season 34, the eight remaining pairs took the stage to rock music legends. They performed both individual dances and team routines, making for an exciting night.

The Performances

Each contestant showcased their skills with two performances. First, they danced solo with their professional partners. Then, they joined forces for team dances. Judges Carrie Ann Inaba, Bruno Tonioli, Derek Hough, and guest Flavor Flav evaluated their efforts, combining scores with viewer votes to decide who would go home.

Dylan Efron kicked off the night with a lively jive to Elton John’s “I’m Still Standing,” gaining praise for his energy. “You’ve really improved,” remarked Hough, though he noted some areas for improvement. Efron scored 36 out of 40.

Alix Earle dazzled with a paso doble to Bon Jovi’s “Livin’ on a Prayer,” earning a near-perfect score of 39. “You were a rock and roll goddess!” Hough exclaimed.

Andy Richter, known for low scores but high fan support, delivered a heartfelt contemporary to “God Only Knows.” Judges noted his relatable dance style. He received 30 points, with a special 9 from Flav.

Whitney Leavitt also wowed the audience with her paso doble to “No More Tears” by Ozzy Osbourne, achieving 39 points. Judges praised her intense performance, with lingering applause from the crowd.

Meanwhile, Danielle Fishel expressed resilience through her dance to Aerosmith’s “Dream On,” showcasing both vulnerability and strength. She scored 34 points.

Elaine Hendrix, returning from an injury, performed an elegant Viennese waltz and was commended for her grace, earning 37 points.

Jordan Chiles rocked a jazz number with Tina Turner flair, drawing high praise and earning 38 points for her bold moves. Lastly, Robert Irwin closed the solo performance round with a powerful paso doble, also scoring 38 points.

The Team Dances

For the team round, Team Chicago—comprised of Fishel, Leavitt, Chiles, and Efron—captured the audience with a slick routine, achieving a perfect score of 40.

Team Kool, featuring Earle, Irwin, Richter, and Hendrix, created a lively dance that earned a commendable 38 points.

The Leaderboard and Elimination

After combining scores from solo and team dances, Leavitt topped the leaderboard with an impressive 79/80. Earle followed closely behind with 77/80. Unfortunately, despite his continued support from fans, Richter avoided elimination, while Fishel was sent home.

The competition grows tougher, and each dancer is determined to improve. Viewers can only wait and see who will claim the mirrorball trophy next!
