EAST GREENSBORO, N.C. (Oct. 29, 2025) – North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University has appointed Tamara Michel Josserand as its new Vice Chancellor for University Advancement. With nearly 30 years in fundraising for major universities across the U.S., her arrival is highly anticipated.

Josserand currently serves as Vice President for Development at the University of Washington in Seattle. She will begin her role at NC A&T in mid-December, where she will oversee various areas including Alumni Relations, Development, and Corporate Engagement.

Her impressive career includes positions at prestigious institutions like the University of Chicago, Yale, and Northwestern University. At the University of Washington, she led more than 400 fundraising professionals and helped secure nearly $1.5 billion in gifts and grants over two years.

Chancellor James R. Martin II highlighted Josserand’s unique qualifications, noting her ability to drive significant fundraising initiatives and navigate organizational changes. Her background demonstrates a strong commitment to education and community service, including work with the DuSable Heritage Foundation, which supports Haiti.

Josserand holds degrees from top universities: an MBA from the University of Chicago and an M.Ed. from Harvard. Her experience also includes coaching and consulting for various educational initiatives, reflecting her dedication to professional development.

Recent trends in higher education suggest that effective alumni relations and engagement strategies are critical for university fundraising. A survey by the Council for Advancement and Support of Education found that institutions focusing on strong relationships with alumni see a 15-20% increase in donations.
