EA Empowers Command & Conquer Modding Community with Source Code for Tiberian Dawn, Renegade, Red Alert, and Generals!

EA just made a big splash in the gaming world by releasing the full source code for several classic Command & Conquer games. This includes the original Command & Conquer (Tiberian Dawn), Command & Conquer: Red Alert, Command & Conquer Renegade, and Command & Conquer Generals, along with the Zero Hour expansion. This is exciting news for modders who love these iconic strategy games.

The release stems from EA working with modder Luke “CCHyper” Feenan, a key player in the community who has been restoring these classic codes. He previously helped bring the C&C Ultimate Collection to Steam in March 2024, something praised by many as the recognition these legendary games deserve.

EA is also supporting custom mapmakers. They are adding Steam Workshop support for Renegade, Generals, Zero Hour, and even more titles like Command & Conquer Tiberium Wars and Red Alert 3. This means you can now publish your maps directly to the Workshop, making it easy for players to access new content.

According to Feenan, “When you subscribe on the Steam Workshop, the games will pull that content down the next time you launch, making new maps available in the selection menus for both singleplayer and multiplayer.”

To help out the modding community even more, EA has released a C&C Modding Support pack. This includes the source files needed for games that use the classic SAGE engine from the original developers, Westwood.
