The East Carolina lacrosse team had an impressive outing against San Diego State, winning 15-7 on their home field. This game showcased the team’s skills and depth, with standout performances from Jamie Behar and Sarah Goodison.
San Diego State initially took the lead, scoring the first two goals. But ECU quickly rebounded. They ramped up their offense, going on a strong 10-1 run to end the half, securing a commanding 10-3 lead.
Kayla Wilkes jumpstarted the scoring for ECU, and several players joined in. Katelyn Sclafani, Maya Koebke, Goodison, and Riley Mattiesen all contributed multiple goals, with Mattiesen completing a hat trick. Towards the end of the half, CJ Kuiken added another goal to solidify their lead.
In the second half, San Diego State tried to claw back. However, Behar was a wall in goal, making 15 saves—her second-best single-game total ever.
Goodison had a standout performance, setting personal bests for goals and assists for a total of seven points. Sclafani also shined, tying her personal record with four goals.
Wilkes rounded out her performance with a goal, an assist, and several ground balls and turnovers, highlighting her all-around game.
