eBay has been hit with significant server issues, causing users to face problems with search functions, logging in, and checking out. Reports of these disruptions started around 3:30 PM Eastern time, with ongoing complaints suggestive of widespread impact.

Many users are sharing their frustration online. Comments reveal that the API is down, affecting various functions across the platform, including tools that rely on it. For example, one user stated: “I can’t even see my cart or items’ descriptions. The only thing that works is browsing, but I can’t make payments.”

The situation has led to difficulties for sellers scheduled for auctions. Some auctions end in the evening, and users worry they might miss out on important bidding due to these issues. “Auctions are crucial,” one seller noted. “I can’t be stuck with items selling for less than their worth because no one can bid.”

Affected users also report errors when trying to search for items. Search queries often return zero results or display error messages, especially with more specific requests. This suggests a systemic problem with eBay’s search functionality.

Additionally, reports are emerging from eBay forums in various regions, including the UK, Canada, and Australia, indicating that this is a global issue. However, eBay’s System Status page inaccurately shows everything as normal.

Compounding the problem, eBay recently closed many support channels, leaving users feeling stranded. Attempts to reach customer service are usually met with automated replies, which have not been helpful during this outage.

There are circulating rumors that the hacker group known as 313 Team may be claiming responsibility for a Distributed Denial of Service (DDoS) attack against eBay, although this has not been confirmed. The ongoing issues come just before eBay’s Q1 earnings report, bringing back memories of past struggles under previous leadership.

In 2019, concerns about persistent glitches on the platform led to pressure on then-CEO Devin Wenig from Elliott Management. Despite ongoing discussions about technical challenges, little seems to have improved by 2026. Mazen Rawashdeh, currently the Chief Technology Officer, has been in place since those earlier issues, yet the platform continues to struggle with reliability.
