Sinoway shared its plans to expand in Egypt with innovative projects aimed at afforestation, wetland restoration, and improving degraded areas. They discussed their initiatives to cut carbon emissions and promote sustainable forest management. Sinoway is also keen on sharing knowledge about land sciences, forestry, and biodiversity.

A highlight of the meeting was the introduction of seed ball technology. This method helps trees grow by using moisture from the soil and air. It could be an effective tool against climate change and desertification, which are critical issues for Egypt.

Sinoway showcased successful afforestation projects they have completed in countries like the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Mauritania, and Tunisia. These projects serve as inspiring examples that could be adapted to Egypt’s unique environmental conditions.

Minister Fouad stressed the need for any afforestation efforts in Egypt to consider the country’s water scarcity. She mentioned the potential benefits of afforestation in carbon credit markets, especially with Egypt starting its first voluntary carbon market. Increasing green spaces and restoring land are crucial for battling climate change and promoting sustainability.

In response, Sinoway pointed out that forestry can effectively reduce carbon emissions, noting China’s approach to countering the loss of farmland. They highlighted that afforestation and land restoration are recognized global solutions to environmental challenges.

Sinoway also explained that they work with local governments to restore natural ecosystems, improve rainfall patterns, and support initiatives for carbon neutrality. By partnering with various stakeholders, they engage in the trade of forest carbon certificates to bolster broader sustainability goals.

The discussions between Egypt’s Ministry of Environment and Sinoway represent a promising step toward incorporating advanced forestry technologies that align with Egypt’s environmental and climate goals.
