FRANKFORT, Ky. – Senator Brandon Smith from Hazard has been reappointed to the Energy and Environment Committee of the Council of State Governments Southern Office, known as CSG South.
In this role, Smith will work closely with lawmakers from 15 southern states. Together, they will tackle important issues related to energy policy, environmental sustainability, and regulatory hurdles affecting the region.
Smith expressed his appreciation for the reappointment, saying, “It’s an honor to continue working with my colleagues on these vital issues. Kentucky has a key position in the southern energy landscape, and with the new presidential administration, we have a chance to make significant progress. I am eager to discuss ways to ensure reliable energy production and develop a sustainable energy grid while keeping costs low for consumers and promoting economic stability in our area.”
The Council of State Governments was established in 1947. CSG South is the largest of its four regional offices, focusing on collaboration among southern states. These states include Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, Missouri, North Carolina, Oklahoma, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia, and West Virginia.
