Tim Brooks is the new assistant coach for the Drexel men’s basketball team, as announced by head coach Zach Spiker. Brooks brings a wealth of experience, having previously worked with Manhattan University, the Philadelphia 76ers, and Hartford.
Most recently, Brooks spent two seasons at Manhattan, where he played a vital role in recruiting. He also helped with the Name, Image, and Likeness (NIL) Collective, a program that supports athletes in securing sponsorship deals. Under his influence, the Jaspers improved by 10 wins and earned a spot in the 2025 College Basketball Invitational.
Before Manhattan, Brooks was with the 76ers, focusing on analyzing NBA prospects. His insights helped the team identify potential players for their roster. He also contributed to Hartford’s basketball efforts, assisting the team in claiming the America East Conference Title during the 2020-21 season. His time there resulted in two championship game appearances and three consecutive semifinal berths.
Brooks graduated from James Madison University in 2011 with a degree in economics, blending sports and analytics effectively in his coaching style.
As coaches like Brooks join the ranks, the impact of their strategies can be seen statistically; recent surveys show that teams with strong recruiting efforts see a 20% increase in wins over three seasons.
