Elon Musk Explores DOGE, AI, and DEI Insights at Dubai World Governments Summit

DUBAI, United Arab Emirates — Elon Musk stirred the pot recently during a call at the World Government Summit. He suggested that the U.S. should “delete entire agencies” from its federal structure. His remarks come as part of his broader push for dramatic changes in government spending and priorities under Donald Trump.

Musk spoke about various topics, mentioning both the threats of artificial intelligence and “thermonuclear warfare.” He argued that the U.S. is currently experiencing a “rule of the bureaucracy” instead of true democracy. In a casual black T-shirt that read “Tech Support,” Musk quipped that he plays the role of the “White House’s tech support,” reflecting his influence on governance as he leads the Department of Government Efficiency.

“If we don’t remove the roots of the weed, it’s easy for the weed to grow back,” he said, highlighting the need for radical reform. His position gives weight to his statements, especially as he now controls key aspects of the government and has sidelined many career officials.

During his talk, Musk expressed a more isolationist view regarding American actions in the Middle East. He pointed out the challenges faced by U.S. foreign aid, emphasizing the need for America to focus on its own matters instead of engaging in regime change abroad. “America should mind its own business,” he stated, acknowledging the complexities of international relations.

Musk also criticized the Trump administration’s stance on diversity, equity, and inclusion efforts. He posed a hypothetical scenario where AI, if designed to enforce diversity at all costs, might eliminate people based on gender imbalances in power. His remarks were meant to highlight potential dangers in the use of technology.

On the topic of artificial intelligence, Musk revealed that the latest version of his AI chatbot, Grok 3, would be ready soon, describing it as “kind of scary.” He also took a jab at OpenAI’s leadership, likening it to a nonprofit organization that has lost its original purpose.

In addition to his comments on government and AI, Musk announced a new project called the “Dubai Loop.” This aligns with his work at the Boring Company, which is currently tunneling in Las Vegas to improve transit systems. While details about the Dubai project remain sparse, Musk promised an innovative underground transit system, describing it as “like a wormhole” for quick travel across the city.
