Embry-Riddle Eagles Dominate: Sweeping Victories Against Simpson and Haskell!

Embry-Riddle had an exciting weekend in volleyball, winning both matches at their home games.

In their first match, they faced Simpson University and won decisively with a 3-0 score. The Eagles showcased their skills, hitting an impressive .405 in the first set. They maintained their lead despite a closer second set, finishing with a .240 hitting percentage compared to Simpson’s .135.

Emma Barber, a senior outside hitter, shined with 12 kills and 7 digs. Hannah Clear added 8 kills and 5 blocks, while Brooke Eglinton contributed 7 kills. Setter Alice Tuci was vital for the team’s rhythm, delivering 35 assists and helping with 6 digs.

The Eagles’ defense was strong, recording 38 digs and 8 total blocks. They really kept Simpson on their toes, forcing 20 errors.

In their second match against Haskell Indian Nations University, Embry-Riddle continued their winning streak, sweeping Haskell 3-0. They controlled the game from start to finish, winning sets 25-22, 25-20, and 25-13.

Emma Barber again stood out, scoring 17 kills with a .448 hitting percentage, earning a total of 18 points. Hannah Clear followed closely with 10 kills, while Brooke Eglinton contributed with 5 kills. Alice Tuci played a crucial role again, providing 34 assists and 10 digs.

The team had a solid performance overall, hitting .248 and limiting Haskell to just .059. Defensively, Ronni Lyons and Haeden Baker combined for 11 digs and helped secure the victory.

As the Eagles prepare for their upcoming Golden State Athletic Conference (GSAC) games, they look to continue their strong performance. Their next match is against Ottawa University Arizona on September 6 at noon.

This successful weekend highlights how essential teamwork and solid defense are in volleyball. With good synergy on and off the court, Embry-Riddle is set for a promising season ahead.
