Emotional Guard of Honour by IAF for India-Pak War Veteran’s Funeral in Vadodara

The Indian Air Force recently honored retired Corporal Zahiruddin Fakhruddin Saiyed, who passed away at home in Vadodara after a long illness. He served in the IAF during the 1965 and 1971 wars against Pakistan. After retiring, he worked as a sub-divisional engineer for Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited.

Saiyed lived in Tandalja with his family. During the funeral, IAF personnel came to pay their respects and provide a ceremonial guard of honor. Many locals gathered to support his family and honor his memory.

His family shared their sorrow, stating, “Our beloved Zahiruddin was a proud ex-serviceman who served his country with unwavering loyalty during two wars. His bravery and dedication make us proud.”

Saiyed was recognized for his service with multiple medals. He earned the Paschimi Star for the 1971 war, the Samanvya Seva Medal for the 1965 war, and the Sangram Medal, along with the 25th Independence Anniversary Medal in 1972. His family emphasized that the guard of honor reflected his dedicated service and discipline, saying he will always be seen as a mentor and public servant.

In today’s context, the legacy of veterans like Saiyed plays a vital role in inspiring younger generations. According to a recent survey by the Pew Research Center, over 70% of young people believe in the importance of honoring military service. This shows how the sacrifices of veterans resonate through time, motivating individuals to appreciate their history and the values of service and integrity.

Moreover, social media trends reflect growing recognition of veterans. Hashtags like #ThankAVet and #HonorBrave encourage community support for those who have served. It creates a space for sharing stories and keeping the spirit of patriotism alive.

As we remember Zahiruddin Saiyed, we not only honor his service but also recognize the ongoing impact veterans have on society today.
