Emotional Tribute: Timberwolves Honor Alex Pretti with Moment of Silence Before Rescheduled Game as Fans Chant ‘F— ICE’

After the NBA postponed the game between the Minnesota Timberwolves and the Golden State Warriors, the rescheduled event began with a heartfelt tribute to ICU nurse Alex Pretti. Tragically, Pretti was killed by federal agents just a day before.

As the announcer addressed the crowd, he expressed the community’s sorrow. “We are heartbroken by the tragic loss of Alex Pretti,” he said, while Pretti’s photo appeared on the big screen. Fans were invited to pause for a moment of silence in his honor.

However, the somber mood was quickly disrupted when someone in the audience shouted, “F*** ICE!” This act of defiance resonated with many around them, sparking a wave of shouts and cheers throughout the arena.

Originally set for January 24, the game was aired the next day on NBA TV. The Timberwolves stated the postponement was made to ensure the safety of the Minneapolis community.

This incident follows another troubling event just weeks earlier. Renee Good was shot in Minneapolis on January 7, a mile away from Pretti’s death. While the Trump administration decided against investigating Good’s death, it controversially labeled Pretti a “domestic terrorist.” This claim has been contested by multiple video angles and eyewitness accounts, which paint a different picture of the tragic circumstances.

Protests have surged in Minneapolis amid ongoing federal immigration operations. Local leaders like Governor Tim Walz and Mayor Jacob Frey have openly criticized federal actions. Recently, Walz activated 1,500 National Guard troops to help manage the situation.

Frey, visibly upset, urged for change: “I just saw a video of masked agents attacking one of our residents and killing him. How many more lives must be lost for this to stop?”

This escalating tension reflects a growing discontent with federal policies in the area. According to a recent poll by the Star Tribune, nearly 70% of Minnesotans oppose current immigration enforcement strategies, emphasizing the urgency for dialogue and reform.
