Emporia State Volleyball Dominates Wichita: Highlights & Highlights from an Exciting Match!

Emporia State University’s volleyball team showcased an impressive performance on October 2, 2025, swiftly defeating Newman University 3-0 in Wichita.

The match began tightly, with both teams exchanging points early on. After six ties, Emporia took control, scoring nine of the last ten points in the first set to secure a 25-18 win. Nyia Anderson was a standout, making seven kills with an impressive hitting percentage of .462.

In the second set, the Hornets never trailed after taking a 3-1 lead. Although Newman managed to tie the score at 14, a service error gave Emporia the momentum they needed. Emma Klett dominated, contributing four consecutive kills to extend the lead. The Hornets finished strong, taking the set 25-17.

The third set started in favor of the Hornets, who led 4-0. However, Newman surged back to take an 8-6 lead. Klett’s timely kill halted their momentum, sparking a rally that kept Emporia in front. With a final score of 25-20 in the third set, the Hornets completed the sweep.

Notable stats included Emma Klett’s career-high 19 kills, while Nyia Anderson added 11 kills and 16 digs. Defensively, Boglarka Rady led with 17 digs, and the team combined for five blocks, showing strong teamwork on both ends of the court.

This win marked Emporia State’s 12th consecutive victory and their best start at 14-2 since 2010. According to recent MIAA statistics, this is the first time since then they have begun league play 3-0.
