Ozarks Healthcare Women’s Healthcare Clinic is gearing up to offer exciting classes for expectant parents in 2026. These sessions are designed to help both moms and dads feel ready for their new arrival.
The classes are free for those delivering at Ozarks Healthcare. If you’re delivering elsewhere, you can attend for a one-time fee of $75. After the classes, you can take a tour of the Labor & Delivery Area to see where your experience will take place.
Here’s what you can expect:
- Prepared Childbirth: A must-do in your second trimester, covering childbirth techniques and what to expect during labor. Classes are scheduled for Saturdays from 8 a.m. to noon on dates like January 10 and March 14.
- New Parent Skills: Ideal for the third trimester, this class dives into baby care, infant safety, and more. Classes run from 6 to 8 p.m. on dates such as February 12 and April 9.
- Heart Saver Infant CPR: Essential for new parents, this course teaches resuscitation techniques for infants. Sessions are offered on evenings like February 10 and June 9.
- Preparing for Breastfeeding: Get useful tips for successful breastfeeding. Classes happen from 6 to 8 p.m. on select nights like January 13 and March 10.
- Breastfeeding Support Group: Meet twice a month on Wednesdays for ongoing support.
Kate Renfrow, the Women’s Center Manager, emphasizes the importance of these classes. “Prenatal education empowers parents to feel confident and prepared for every stage of their baby’s arrival,” she says. The courses not only cover essential skills but also let parents explore the OB Department before the big day.
Research shows that families who participate in prenatal education often feel more confident during labor and delivery. A recent survey indicated that 85% of parents who took classes reported feeling more prepared. This emphasis on readiness is crucial in reducing anxiety and ensuring a smoother transition into parenthood.
