The Government of Tripura, along with the Indian Computer Emergency Response Team (CERT-In), recently launched a significant cybersecurity initiative called “Cyber Bharat Setu: Bridging States, Securing Bharat.” This two-day workshop was held on November 11 and 12, 2025, at Pragna Bhavan in Agartala.
The primary goal of this event was to boost cyber awareness and readiness throughout the state. Participants received expert training, engaged in hands-on drills, and tackled simulated scenarios. The event kicked off with key figures in attendance, including S. Krishnan from the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology and J. K. Sinha, the Chief Secretary of Tripura.
Attendees included government secretaries, department heads, senior officials, and representatives from banks and technical institutes. This mix ensured diverse perspectives and a comprehensive approach to cybersecurity.
Sessions were led by CERT-In experts like Ashutosh Bahuguna, Shashank Gupta, and Mohit Kataria. They provided valuable insights and interactive workshops, focusing on real-world applications and response strategies.
“Cyber Bharat Setu” aims for a resilient digital environment in India. The initiative emphasizes collaboration, intelligence sharing, and capacity building to safeguard the nation’s digital framework and economy. As cyber threats grow, such preparedness is essential for protecting public interests.
Recent statistics underscore the urgency of this initiative. A report from Cybersecurity Ventures predicts that cybercrime will cost the world $10.5 trillion annually by 2025, nearly doubling from 2020. This highlights the pressing need for effective cybersecurity measures at all levels, particularly in developing regions like Tripura.
Overall, the workshop not only equipped participants with skills but also fostered a network for future collaboration. By bridging gaps in cybersecurity capabilities across states, India is taking proactive steps towards a safer digital future.
